Week Fifteen 01/22-01/26

Week Fifteen 01/22-01/26 2 Kings 6:16-17 “ So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”                   Where are you fixing your eyes? I’ve been reminding this week to have a heavenly perspective. In this area of scripture, Elisha is sought after by the king of Syria because Elisha keeps telling the king of Israel when they are going to attack. One day, Elisha’s servant looked out to find they were completely surrounded by an army of horses and chariots. In fear, he asked Elisha what they should do. Elisha’s response was to ask the Lord to open his servant’s eyes. This was done so that he could see that the Lord had actually surrounded them with horses and chariots of fire. I find myself far too

Week Fourteen 01/15-01/19

Week Fourteen 01/15-01/19 Romans 10:14-15  “ How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!” This week we were able to spend three days in the Kratie Province. On one of our days there, we were able to go to a village that was about 2-3 hours away from the church we were staying at. In order to get there we had to take a van about an hour out until it couldn’t make it any further. We then walked until we were able to catch a ride with what seemed to be a tractor with an attachment on the back, driven by a young teenage boy and his friends. We couldn’t resist such an offer, especially since we were headed to their village and wouldn’t have been able to make it on foot. We wer

Week Thirteen: 01/08-01/12

Week Thirteen: 01/08-01/12 Psalm 63:1 “O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for you in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.” This week we spent three days in the Kampot province. While we were here, we got to come alongside a couple that started the church with their baby son. At the church they have English and computer classes, youth groups on Friday nights, a children’s daycare, church services, and many other things. I’m not sure how they manage to pull all of that off with very minimal help, but I do know its all because of their dependency and trust in the Lord. Being here has made me realize that’s all I ever want in life: to do the impossible all by the Lord’s strength with complete dependency and desperation for Him. I’m sure there were seasons they went through where they didn’t know where to turn, except to God. That same desperation is beginning to form in me as I ponder the possibilitie

Week Twelve: 01/01-01/05

Week Twelve: 01/01-01/05 Genesis 2:7 “And the Lord God formed man out of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”              A few of us have decided this year to do the ESV Bible in a year plan. I’ve attempted to read the Bible in a year more times than I can recall and have miserably failed every time. I was discouraged not only in fear of failing, but because I’ve read Genesis so many times that there’s no way I thought I’d get anything new from it.   On New Years Eve, our team rang in the New Year with worship. The lyrics of one song were, “its your breath in our lungs so we pour out our praise to you only.” The next morning I read the first three chapters of Genesis and to my surprise, it was as though I was reading it for the first time. The Lord has been urging me to go deeper in my prayer and devotional life and reading this verse set me on a reasonable trajectory for this year. Every part of our being
